Oluyede is Ekiti PDP Candidate, no faction exists — Campaign Organisation

Please, share this story:

The campaign organisation of Wole Oluyede has dismissed claims by two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lanre Omolase and Bisi Kolawole suggesting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State lacks a valid governorship candidate for the June 20, 2026 election.

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday by its Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the organisation described assertions by Mr. Omolase and Kolawole as misleading, insisting that Oluyede remains the duly recognised candidate of the party.

Can someone please draw the attention of Omolase and Kolawole to the two court rulings? It appears they may still be living in another world, comfortably enjoying whatever benefits they have received from the Biodun Oyebanji administration in exchange for compromising their conscience—not the PDP.

The group stated that Oluyede emerged through the PDP governorship primary held on November 8, 2025, conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC)led by Ambassador Umar Damagum and observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alongside security agencies.

One begins to wonder if Omolase and Kolawole have mistaken the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party that is still groping in the dark without a governorship candidate because its supposed candidate Oyebanji, is yet to secure judicial clearance. For avoidance of doubt, it is the APC going into governorship election without a candidate.

Let it be made unequivocally clear: it is both laughable and insulting to attempt to dignify Omolase and Kolawole as members of any so-called PDP faction.
There is no faction in the Ekiti PDP. The party, under the legitimate leadership of Tunji Odeyemi, remains united, cohesive, and firmly grounded in law.

The facts are clear and indisputable. The congress conducted under the supervision of the Umar Damagun-led National Working Committee (NWC) duly recognised by INEC and emphatically affirmed by the Federal High Court, Abuja in the case of Wole Oluyede vs INEC, stands as the only legally binding and recognised PDP structure in Ekiti State. Any contrary claim is nothing but a desperate distortion of reality.

For the avoidance of doubt, if elections into local governments or the State House of Assembly were to be conducted today, only the Tunji Odeyemi-led PDP has the legal authority to sponsor candidates. That is the law—simple and straightforward.

It is, therefore, a reckless affront and a display of political desperation for Kolawole and Omolase to peddle the false narrative that the Ekiti PDP has no candidate. If anything, it is the APC—the same platform they now appear to be shamelessly aligning with—that is struggling to put its house in order and produce a candidate.

Ekiti people are not fools, and no amount of sponsored propaganda can overturn judicial truth or rewrite established facts.

The Oluyede Campaign Organisation implored all true members of Ekiti PDP to come together as the campaign organisation is not fighting anybody and neither is Dr Wole Oluyede grudging anybody. We all own the party.

Let us team up and win the June 20 governorship election. Remember the Yoruba word, “Omo eni o se di bebere, ka fi ileke si tomo elomiran.”
