Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship aspirant in the 2026 Ekiti Governorship Election has commiserated with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the people of Oyo State over the Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.

Olunloyo, a former governor of Oyo State, died in the early hours of Sunday, nine days before his 90th birthday, according to a statement released by the family.

According to a press statement by the Olugbenga Peter Obafemi Media Vanguard and made available to the press in Ado Ekiti Sunday, Otunba Obafemi said the death of the great mathematician, engineer, a renowned technocrat and Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife came as a rude shock to him.

Otunba Obafemi described the death of Dr. Olunloyo as a colossal loss to Nigeria and the community of intellectuals.

Obafemi, a business guru and aviation expert, said the intellectual depth and native intelligence of Dr. Olunloyo, who graduated with First Class Honours and proceeded to bag a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the age of 26, was a testament to the belief that the former governor was a rare breed.

Otunba Obafemi described Dr. Olunloyo as a man full of wealth of experience and wisdom, adding that he died at a time when his wealth of wisdom was most needed.

Otunba Obafemi therefore prayed to God to grant repose to his soul and uphold the family he left behind.”
