His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, (Ige Olakulehin 1), the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has felicitated His Royal Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland on his milestone 80th birthday.
Oba Ladoja, a former Senator of the Federal Republic, is also a former governor of Oyo State.
A statement from the Olubadan Palace on Tuesday, signed by Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the monarch, Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade, congratulated the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, stating that the Olubadan celebrated Oba Ladoja and his achievements in his eight decades on earth noting his contributions to Ibadanland, Oyo State and the Nigeria nation.
“Oba Olakunlehin expressed his unalloyed gratitude to the God Almighty for sparing the life of Oba Ladoja to witness his 80th birthday celebration,” he said
In the paramount ruler’s words,” on this landmark occasion and joyous celebration of 80 years, I recognise, celebrate and salute your service to Ibadan land and, indeed, Oyo State, on behalf of the Olubadan-in-Council and the good people and residents of Ibadanland.
“You are a worthy son and ambassador of Ibadanland; and we are proud of you and your noble achievements in your eight decades on earth.
“My prayer is that the Almighty will give you many more years in good health and wealth to continue in service to humanity.”
The monarch further appreciated Oba Ladoja’s love for peace and unity in Ibadanland and his commitment to the promotion and preservation of Ibadan cultural heritage.
He used the occasion to admonish traditional title holders, indigenes as well as residents of the ancient city to ensure the maintenance of peaceful co-existence for Ibadan development in all sectors and areas of human endeavour.
