A fierce disagreement between a man identified as Wealth Nnamdi and his pregnant fiancee, Osasu Isaac, has resulted in Nnamdi allegedly killing the fiancee and her daughter, Miracle.
The incident reportedly occurred at Idiangbona Street of Ovbiogoe Community, Benin, Edo State, on March 16, 2025.
A neighbor of the couple, who pleaded anonymity, told PUNCH Metro on Tuesday that
they were about to get married as the traditional marriage had been fixed for March 29 while the church wedding was slated for April 6.
The source said, “Osasu Isaac, known as Mama Halleluyah, a petty trader, and Wealth Nnamdi from Imo State had been together for over three years.
“The man moved in with the deceased with her daughter from a previous marriage. The deceased, who was pregnant, unfortunately, was killed alongside her daughter by the same man she was supposed to wed in a few days. The traditional wedding was fixed for March 29, while the church wedding was scheduled for April 6.
“They engaged in a shouting bout on Sunday, but the neighbors were not bothered because it was a usual occurrence.
“It seems the argument escalated to the point that the man killed her pregnant wife-to-be and the daughter in the room, locked them up, and escaped. So, when a foul smell started coming out of the room, the police were called.”
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Command, Moses Yamu, on Tuesday, said it had commenced an investigation into the gruesome murder of the woman and her daughter.
Yamu said that during the preliminary investigation, all fingers pointed at her live-in lover.
The statement read, “The Edo State Police Command has since commenced investigation into the gruesome murder of a woman popularly known as “Mama Hallelujah” and her three three-year-old daughter named Miracle.”
“On March 18, 2025, at about 20:30hrs, the Ekiadolor Division received a report from a concerned neighbor of the deceased that he perceived an offensive odor from his neighbor’s room located at Idiangbona Street of Ovbiogoe Community.
“On the strength of the report, the DPO Ekiadolor led operatives to the area where the room where the odor was emanating from was identified but discovered to be locked from the outside.
“The room was forced open, only for them to discover the already decomposing bodies of the woman with an injury that appeared to be a machete cut on her head and her baby on the bed.
“During preliminary investigation, all fingers pointed at her live-in lover, simply identified as Wealth Nnamdi, whose wedding with the deceased mother of one was set for 29/03/2025.”
He stated that the suspect had gone underground since the discovery, and the command was doing everything possible to ensure his arrest.
