A 37-year-old Nuradeen Shehu working as a security guard in a private school in Kano, has allegedly hanged himself because his estranged wife remarried another man.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Mohammad Usaini Gumel, stated this on Tuesday at the state police headquarters
in Kano while addressing the press.
The Police Commissioner said that Shehu attached to a private school in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano state was found hanging in one of the classrooms where he worked.
He said that the command has commenced an investigation into the incident
The police boss said, “On January 28 at about 10:30 am, one Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki, brought a report that Nuradeen Shehu, a security guard at the school was found motionless after he hanged himself with rope in a classroom. he said
“Immediately the report was heard,” a team of policemen from Gwale Division, led by the DPO, was deployed to the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, they forcefully unlocked the door, cut the rope, and rushed the body of Shehu to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital where a medical doctor confirmed him dead”.
The corpse of the man had already been released to the family of the deceased for burial.
He however disclosed that preliminary information indicated that the deceased might have hanged himself to death having realised that his ex-wife had remarried.
