Please, share this story:
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, today resigned from the office and handed over to May Agbamuche, the longest-serving National Commissioner in the commission, in an interim capacity pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.
Yakubu announced the transition on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
In his farewell remarks, Yakubu urged directors and RECs to extend full cooperation to Agbamuche to ensure a smooth leadership transition as the commission continues preparations for upcoming elections nationwide.
