The Federal Government has announced a new phase of reforms aimed at improving the quality, access, and global competitiveness of Nigeria’s education system, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Ministry of Education, in a statement released from the State House on Monday, said the reforms are designed to build a more inclusive and technology-driven learning environment while addressing persistent gaps in teacher development, data management, and student performance.
According to the ministry, the reforms will strengthen data management and accountability across the education sector to enhance transparency and improve policy planning. They will also prioritise teacher development by expanding training programmes and certification pathways to raise professional standards.
In addition, the government plans to expand access to higher education for teachers through flexible learning options and scholarship support. The reforms also aim to enhance learning outcomes and national competitiveness so that Nigerian graduates are better equipped to thrive in both local and global job markets.
Implementation will involve collaboration with state governments, academic institutions, and development partners. Further details on rollout strategies and timelines are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
