Former Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and former senatorial candidate, Chief Bisi Ilaka, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ilaka announced his defection to journalists on Thursday, explaining that the decision followed extensive consultations with key political stakeholders across the state.
Ilaka, who served as Chief of Staff during Governor Makinde’s first term, also contested the Oyo Central Senatorial District seat under the PDP in the 2019 and 2023 general elections.
Until his defection, he remained a prominent figure within the PDP’s political structure in Oyo State.
According to him, the move was the result of careful reflection and was necessary to align his political journey with his convictions and future aspirations.
He added that the ADC offers a political platform that reflects his vision for grassroots development, inclusive governance, and sustainable political growth.
