Please, share this story:

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and former commissioner for works and transport in Ekiti State, Mrs Oguns Funmilayo Theresa(OFT) has empathized with the people of the state over the gruesome murder of two Ekiti traditional rulers by suspected kidnappers.

In a press statement issued by Dimeji Olayinka, the Spokesman of Mrs. Oguns in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday and made available to journalists, the woman also decried the abduction of 6 pupils and 3 teachers by kidnappers at Eporo Ekiti, lamenting that Ekiti hitherto a peaceful state under the previous PDP administrations has become a haven for kidnappers, bandits, and herdsmen to operate freely and it is now an unsafe place to live under the All Progressive Congress (APC) administrations.

Oguns said instead of Governor Oyebanji providing good governance and adequate security, he has been going about lobbying people to endorse him for a second term, ” an attitude very funny. He has spent only 15 months in office of the first term.”

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) chieftain appealed to the state governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji to wake up to proper governance and provide adequate security to the people of the state. “Don’t allow the criminals to chase the people out of the state,” she pleaded.

“How do you expect business to boom or investors to come to a state where life is not secured? This government must do something urgently,” she said.

Two Ekiti Obas, the Onimojo of Imojo in Oye Local Government, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun in Ajoni Local Council Development Area, Oba David Ogunsakin, were on Monday evening murdered while traveling along Irele-Oke Ako road.

Oguns has therefore called the Commissioner of Police, Mr Dare Ogundare, and other security chiefs to fish out killers of the respected monarchs.

The PDP stalwart charged the security outfits to form a strong network to protect the people from untimely death and recurrent kidnapping and killings along the Ipao-Oke Ako-Irele road.

Oguns said “I felt so sad that two eminent monarchs could be killed in such a gruesome manner. This is a sign of failure of governance at both state and federal levels and it is a wake-up call to all of us.

“I sympathize with the people of Imojo, Esun, and Ekiti in general on the sudden death of these traditional rulers. But I want to say that no effort should be spared to arrest those who committed this heinous crime. They must be brought to justice”.

The security agencies should please work round the clock to secure the release of the 6 pupils and their teachers in the custody of the kidnappers.
