Please, share this story:
Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, Director-General of the Oluyede Campaign Council, has expressed confidence that Dr. Wole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, will overcome all obstacles allegedly placed in his path by political opponents and vested interests determined to retain Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power.
Ogundipe stated that despite what he described as calculated attempts by certain political actors and contractors to derail Oluyede’s ambition, the PDP candidate remains resolute and focused on reclaiming power for the benefit of the majority of Ekiti residents, whom he said have been marginalised under the current administration.
Ogundipe, speaking through Idowu Adelusi, Press Secretary to the Campaign Council, maintained that although Dr. Wole Oluyede convincingly won the PDP primary election—a victory later challenged by an aggrieved aspirant and subsequently nullified by a lower court—the party’s candidate will ultimately prevail.
The campaign chief disclosed that the PDP and its governorship candidate have already, through their legal team, filed an application for a stay of execution of the judgment and have also lodged an appeal against the ruling, that our campaign can go on undisturbed.
He expressed confidence that God would confound those who claim the PDP is finished and incapable of presenting a candidate in the election.
Ogundipe expressed optimism that the current setbacks are temporary, declaring that “after a dark night comes a glorious dawn.”
According to Ogundipe, the obstacles confronting Oluyede are mere distractions intended to derail the campaign, insisting that the movement remains focused and unstoppable.
“These challenges will not distract us. We are marching steadily towards the Ekiti Government House, and neither Oluyede nor the PDP can be stopped,” he said.
He further described the June 20, 2026 governorship election as a direct contest between the people of Ekiti, represented by Dr. Wole Oluyede, and the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
Ogundipe therefore urged PDP members, as well as marginalised and economically disadvantaged Ekiti residents who support Oluyede, to remain steadfast, prayerful, and united, calling on them not to lose faith as Oluyede overcomes what he described as deliberate obstacles placed in his path by the APC and its agents.
