The various candidates and political parties contesting have been telling the electorate what they have in stock for them as the off cycle gubernatorial election in Ekiti State coming up on June 20 this year as the build up becoming more noticeable.

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede has taken a swipe on the ongoing one kilometer overhead bridge embarked upon by the Biodun Oyebanji government as “over head fake”.

Speaking on a radio program, Fresh FM, Ado Ekiti and monitored by newsmen describing the project as a misplaced priority leaving other projects that are of much benefits to the people of the state.

The one hour live program was anchored by a seasoned Journalist, Jide Ogunluyi who doubles as the General Manager of the radio station.

Dr Wole Oluyede while reacting to the question on the cargo airport project described the airport as airstrip which is far from what Ekiti State government projected right away from the Kayode Fayemi to the Biodun Oyebanji governments called it.

On the overhead bridge that it will beautify Ekiti and have a face lift. “What purpose does it serve ? The bridge has divided the center of Ado Ekiti into to two. He should have opened the place, make people to pack in a circular road for the greater Ekiti. Somebody coming from Itawure should be able to drive fast to Otun or Emure and not a kilometer flyover bridge that terminates just like that”.

Talking about the large turnout of Ikere Ekiti people in the Tuesday restoration rally, he attributed it to his acceptance from his kinsmen which he expected less from them. He maintained that Ikere Ekiti are gunning for the position of the Governor and rejected Deputy.

The international medical consultant was of the opinion that if the incumbent Governor has performed to the expectation of Ekiti people using judiciously what accrued to the state from the federation and the Internally Generated Revenue, that President Bola Tinubu ought to have visited the state.

Disabusing the minds of some people in some quarters that he is far away from home. He maintained that he is always in Ekiti despite the distance.

“I am always here every two weeks in a month. My people can attest to this because, politics is local”.

“Every government that has ruled the state will tell you that I would bring investors. Where are the investors now? We must create enabling environment before these people will come to invest and that is one of my major priorities”, he said.

He asserted: “Government ought to have done better to create enabling environment like good road network, safety of people, health sector and security. I am going to do things differently through the creation of wealth. Everybody is depending on government but we must change the narrative”.

He exemplified on his experience as a medical doctor for fourty years coupled with business and leadership acumen as impetuous for him to perform greatly if given the chance.

The medical giant emphasized that he would generate #70 billion on health only in a year but declined to explain how he would arrive at this because he would not want his opponent to photocopy it.

Oluyede declared that he has consulted as a medical doctor to five different countries and promised to do things differently which would place Ekiti on the heart of the world.

Bearing on his political experience and preparedness, he informed that he contested against the former Governor, Kayode Fayemi in 2018 at the primary and was the candidate of the ADC in 2022 and he would be slogging it out with Oyebanji which he referred to as a non performing Governor which would give him the opportunity to be voted for by Ekiti electorate.

He used the live radio program to thank the people of Ekiti particularly Ikere Ekiti for the show of love and solidarity during the Tuesday restoration rally at Ikere Ekiti.

The PDP gubernatorial hopeful asked the electorate to maintain the tempo of support and transform it to massive votes for him in the forthcoming election and promised not to disappoint them.
