The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State, Dr Bunmi Omoseyindeni has announced commencement of the continuous voters registration exercise from Monday, February 16 and end on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 across the 177 wards in Ekiti State.

The Ekiti REC disclosed this to journalists in his office in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

He explained that the commission has moved the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to the grassroots to enable eligible residents who are yet to register to do so within the 10-day window.

According to him, decentralising the exercise to the ward level is aimed at making the process more accessible and less burdensome for prospective voters, who previously had to travel to INEC local government offices to complete their registration.

He noted that the exercise would run daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., including weekends, to accommodate individuals who may be unable to participate on weekdays due to work or other commitments.

He added that adequate INEC personnel have been deployed to all the wards to ensure a smooth and hitch-free process.

The REC appealed to journalists to partner with the commission in ensuring peaceful and credible elections in the state.

He urged media practitioners to refrain from publishing unverified information that could inflame political tensions, stressing the need for professionalism and adherence to journalistic ethics.

While acknowledging that rumours and political statements are inevitable during electioneering periods, Dr. Omoseyindeni encouraged journalists to verify information with INEC before going public.

He assured residents of Ekiti State of the commission’s preparedness to conduct free, fair and credible elections, and called on all stakeholders to comply with established electoral rules and regulations.
