The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for questioning.
Malami disclosed the development on Friday via his Facebook page, confirming that he had received an official summons from the anti-graft agency.
“I would like to inform my family and friends that I have been summoned by the EFCC to provide clarification on certain matters, and as a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I am determined to honour this invitation without any hesitation,” he wrote.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the values of transparency and ethical leadership, noting that the principles of honesty, integrity and accountability guided his years in public service.
“I believe in the importance of honesty, integrity and accountability in governance. These are principles that I have long supported and upheld over the years of my public service,” he added.
Malami assured that he would keep Nigerians updated on any developments arising from the invitation.
As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC had not revealed the specific issues for which the former minister was invited.
Malami recently dumped the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Party (ADC) in Kebbi State and has declared ambition to contest for the party’s governorship ticket.
