Gov. Hyacinth Alia on Tuesday declared a one-week Easter holiday for all public and civil servants in the state.

This was contained in a circular signed by Mr Godwin Tighil, Permanent Secretary, General Services, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government and made available to newsmen in Makurdi.

According to the circular, the holiday would take effect on 31st March by 1pm, and work would resume April 8.

“However, those on essential services are directed to remain at their duty posts to attend to issues of human and urgent public interests,” it said.
