The continuous invasion of schools in the Northern part of the country has prompted the Federal Government to shut down 47 Unity Colleges prone to attacks across the country.

The development comes after the attacks on schools in Kebbi and Niger States.

Students and staff were abducted in both incidents while at least one official was shot dead.

In a circular on Friday, Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education, said Dr Tunji Alausa, had approved the temporary closure of 47 schools due to recent security challenges in some parts of the country.
