Please, share this story:
Veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has withdrawn from the contest for the throne of Awujale of Ijebuland.
K1 made his decision known after filing a notice of discontinuation at the Ogun State High Court, effectively ending his legal challenge to the ongoing selection process for the vacant throne.
The notice, filed on Monday and obtained on Tuesday, stated that the claimant had wholly discontinued the suit in line with the Ogun State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024 and the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
According to the document, the suit was initiated following correspondences from the second respondent in 2025, which have since been withdrawn. K1 subsequently urged the court to formally record the discontinuance and make any orders it considered appropriate.
The musician had earlier dragged Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, before the court, seeking an interim injunction to restrain the governor and five others from taking further steps in the installation of a new Awujale.
Also joined as respondents were the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary of the local government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
K1 had indicated interest in the vacant stool, claiming ancestral ties to the Jadiara Royal House within the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House. However, the ruling house rejected his claim, insisting that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland has no ancestral link with the royal lineage.
