Makinde, APC, NUJ, others mourn Reps member’s death

The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has described the sudden death of
the federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North federal constituency of Oyo State, Honourable Musiliu Akinremi, a.k.a. Jagaban,
as shocking and a great loss to the state.

Akinremi, who reportedly died in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday, was serving his second term in office as a member of the Green Chamber.

Makinde prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and courage for the family to “bear the unfortunate loss.”

Meanwhile, the governor has ordered that flags should be flown at half-mast, in honor of the departed federal lawmaker.

Similarly, the lawmaker representing the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of the state, Honourable Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, a.k.a. Odidiomo, has expressed sadness over the death of Akinremi.

According to a statement by Mr. Tolu Mustapha, his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Olajide described the late Jagaban as a dedicated and hard-working lawmaker.

He said he made significant contributions to the nation’s development.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of Honourable Akinremi Jagaban’s passing. He was a brother and colleague who showed great commitment to our nation’s progress. His demise is a great loss to the National Assembly and the people of Oyo State,” he said.

Odidiomo extended his condolences to the family, friends, and political associates of the deceased and prayed for the repose of his soul.

“Honourable Jagaban will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on in our hearts and in the lives of those he touched. May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest and comfort his family during this difficult time,” Odidiomo said.

Honourable Akinremi, who also served as Chairman of, the House Committee on Science Research Institutions, was a two-time Rep member before his demise.

Oyo APC laments Reps member’s death

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has lamented the death of Honorable Musiliu Olaide Akinremi, describing the news of his demise as a great loss to the party, Ibadanland, and Nigeria as a whole.

He was a member of the APC Caretaker/Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee headed by the Yobe State governor, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC said Akinremi’s death happened at a time he was needed most by his constituents, the National Assembly, and the human society as a whole.

“Prince Akinremi’s demise is a death to many, as he means so much to our great party even in death. It was he who redefined representation at the National Assembly to give relief and hope to the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

“He was the face of responsible and responsive leadership with many achievements to his record.

“The Bar. Isaac Omodewu-led State Executive Committee (SEC), as well as the entire members and supporters of the APC, have lost a wonderful party man and a colorful politician who left an indelible footprint on the sands of time.

“The vacuum he left behind will be extremely difficult to fill; but we find solace in the legacy of kindness, philanthropy, and service to the people which he was able to implant on the surface of the earth,” Sadare added.

Oyo NUJ mourns Rep Akinremi

The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Adewale Akinremi.

In a statement signed by the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola, and made available to reporters by the union’s Secretary, Sola Oladapo, the NUJ described Akinremi as a philanthropist of note who touched many lives during his lifetime.

“The Oyo NUJ is deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Adewale Akinremi. He was a friend of the media and a champion of the people.

“His contributions to the development of Ibadan North, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole will never be forgotten,” the statement read.

According to the union, Akinremi was a strong supporter of journalism and always identified with the struggles of journalists in the state.
He was known for his generosity and kindness, especially to the less privileged.

The NUJ also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency, and the entire Nigerian parliament.

“Akinremi’s death has left a huge vacuum in the political landscape of Oyo State and he would be deeply missed by all who knew him,” the union noted.
