The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Oluseyi Makinde on Tuesday in Ogbomoso finally affirmed Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun Ogbomoso as he presented him with instrument and staff of office.
Speaking at the Ogbomoso Township Stadium venue of the ceremony, Governor Makinde emphasized that the presentations were done within his executive power declaring that the act officially confirmed Oba Ghandi Olaoye Orumogege III as the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso.
“In the exercise of my power as the Governor, I hereby confirm Oba Ghandi Olaoye Orumogege III as the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso land.
“I will hand over the instrument to the office, and I will also hand over the staff of the office,” the governor stated.
Makinde urged those who contested against the new Soun and had gone to court to withdraw their suits and join hands with the new monarch to develop Ogbomoso land.
The coronation ceremony was witnessed by eminent personalities such as the former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibajo; the Governor of Osun State, Mr. Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, former governor of Oyo and Ogun States, Major General Oladayo Popoola (rtd); the Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, the Olu of Warri and many other traditional rulers across the country.
