Please, share this story:
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), B Zone, has appealed to all stakeholders in the society to stop any forms of violence, discrimination, stigmatization, molestation, and exploitation of children, “as they are an integral part of our society.”
The zone, in a statement to commemorate 2024 Children’s Day and jointly signed by the Vice Chairperson of the Zone, Adeola Adekunle, and the Secretary, Adeola Adewole, described this year’s theme: ‘Inclusion For Every Child Belonging To Any Society,’ as a clarion call that no child should be left behind in all the welfare programs available in the society, irrespective of gender, age, tribe, culture or religion.
“They should equally be included in every family decision-making, as they are the joy of every home,” they said.
NAWOJ B Zone said it “now calls on government at all levels to prioritize and promote the protection of children, quality education, improved health care delivery and passionately appeals for effective implementation of the Child Welfare and Protection Law (CWPL) and Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP) to deal decisively with anyone caught violating the rights of children.”
The statement also added that parents should train their children “with high sense of love, trust, dignity, and empathy without using vulgar language with the best protection to be good leaders of tomorrow.”
