President Bola Tinubu, in his Christmas message to the nation, has pledged to protect Nigerians of all faiths from violence and uphold freedom of religion across the country.

The President congratulated Christians in Nigeria and around the world, describing Christmas as a season of reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ and His message of peace, love and hope.

“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence,” Tinubu said.

He noted that the celebration of Christmas goes beyond festivity, stressing that the message of Christ as the Prince of Peace remains especially relevant amid Nigeria’s current challenges.

The President thanked God for the privilege of leading the nation and offered prayers for peace and harmony, particularly among people of different religious beliefs.

Reflecting on the contributions of Christians to national development, Tinubu said their faith and commitment to service had played a significant role in Nigeria’s progress.

“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us also reflect on the many contributions that Christians in Nigeria, as followers of Christ, have made and continue to make towards the development of our country,” he stated.

He added that the teachings of Christ and the Gospel’s message of love have inspired many Nigerians to serve humanity selflessly, describing such efforts as worthy of recognition.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national security, unity and stability, Tinubu stressed that every Nigerian has the right to live, worship and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity, without discrimination based on religion or ethnicity.

He disclosed that the Federal Government had engaged leaders of both major religions throughout the year, particularly on issues of insecurity and religious intolerance, adding that such engagements would be strengthened to promote peaceful coexistence.

As Nigerians travel during the festive season, the President urged motorists to exercise patience and observe traffic rules, wishing all travellers safe journeys.

“With faith in divine providence and our collective strength, we will continue the work of building a greater Nigeria that future generations will be proud of,” Tinubu said.

“I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.”
