A while ago, a female judicial officer in a state judiciary told me of an alleged aggressive recruitment drive within the division, to expand its lesbian base. Then a female was the head of the arm of government. A thorough warrior, she promised to ‘scatter’ everywhere with evidence when she’s done serving on the “lower” bench she was consigned to, allegedly because she would not budge when approached, entreated, cajoled and threatened. She would be spilling the beans when done on the Bench. Let no one accuse her of mental derangement when she starts naming names. A strong-willed christian, I doubt if she would be dissuaded when her moment arrives and the hour is ticking.
Her spill may also trigger Nigeria’s #MeToo moment and movement.
When sexual assault survivor and activist Tarana Burke coined the hashtag in 2006 on little-known social media platform Myspace, she possibly didn’t envisage that 11 years after, it would become the nemesis and nightmare of once-revered global magnates especially Hollywood moguls, with histories of troubled sexual feelings and raging phalli. The 2017 volcanic re-emergence of the hashtag, drawing global attention to sexual abuse, sexual harassment and rape culture in the workplace, cancelled hitherto untouchable. A couple of randy men landed in hot soup, with the most prominent being heavyweight Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein. He was convicted in 2020 of raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann and sexually assaulting Miriam Haley, a production assistant. In 2022, he was also convicted of raping and sexually assaulting an unnamed woman who later revealed herself as Evgeniya Chernyshova, a model and actress living in Italy. In the December 19, 2022 judgement, the disgraced Hollywood icon was found guilty of charges of rape, forced oral copulation and third-degree sexual misconduct. On February 23, 2023, Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the convictions, bringing a grim end to an illustrious career.
Last Wednesday, the Nigerian senate penned concurrence to a bill passed by the House of Representatives, prescribing 14 years jail term for sexual harassment on Nigerian campuses especially from lecturers to students (presumably male to female), though the leadership would not accommodate the call by Edo North senator, Adams Oshiomhole for universality of the new felony net.
According to him, the bill titled “Sexual Harassment of Students (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2025 (HB.1597)” should also cover workplaces and other sectors.
“There is no need to restrict sexual harassment issues to students. We should craft this law in a way that gives it universal application” he reasoned, to the objection of the presiding deputy senate president who also correctly noted that existing laws have covered workplace sexual harassment.
World over, men are the usual suspects of workplace sexual harassment, though women, particularly older teachers have been caught amorously yoked with middle and high schoolers in the West, particularly US, UK and Europe, earning several offenders, years in prison. Such cases are rarities in Nigeria. It is mostly the reverse, older male teachers engaging with toddlers and teenagers. Another possibly never-seen-before in Nigeria would be women accusing one another of sexual harassment and that is why my ‘source’ spilling after service, could be a once-in-a lifetime spectacle. But it might just come dramatic without comeuppance for the alleged recruiters who reportedly used career progression and other perks to either hoodwink prospective recruits or threaten the uncompromising like the officer referenced here. The “Bencher” said the group operates like a cult and would flaunt what unwilling, approached colleagues would be missing. Some of the alleged ringleaders should, by age calculation, have retired now, though the “cells” are still taken to be active.
Nigeria is a “straight” country by law. Former President Goodluck Jonathan paid a very humiliating political price, standing with his conviction that Nigeria is not a “rainbow” nation. Acting his so-called leader of the free world status, then-US President Barack Obama led the mobilized opposition to the administration from January 2014 when Jonathan signed the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act (SSMPA) 2013, into law and there was no let until the Nigerian leader was hounded out of Aso Rock.
There have been largely unproven claims that Barack’s wife and former First Lady, Michelle is a trans who used to identify as Michael LaVaughn Robinson aka Big Mike in Illinois voter’s register. The former US first couple vehemently denied the claim, though Michelle has it on record that one of her most memorable days of her husband’s presidency was when SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States legalized same-sex marriage.
In her 2018 memoir, Becoming, she wrote that she “snuck out” of the White House with her daughter Malia on the night of June 26, 2015 to celebrate the apex court decision legalizing the unbiblical marriage nationwide. She said her staff had informed her of the large, joyful gathering outside the White House gates, which was lit in rainbow colours for the occasion and she felt compelled to be part of the moment.
According to her “Malia and I just busted past the agents on duty. We joined in with everyone as anonymously as we could, just two more proud Americans cheering on progress and the simple and newly-constitutionally protected-fact: love is love”.
Now, there is a legal challenge to get the conservative-dominated apex court to reverse the ruling, following the shooting down of federal abortion right three years ago.
Errol Musk, the father of world richest Elon, is one weighty voice who won’t let the Michelle trans-thing go away. In a recent interview, he insisted the former First Lady is a man crossing-dressing as a woman (the Bobrisky’s type) and the husband, a queer.
He said, “We realised Obama is a queer who is married to a man who dresses as a woman. We all learned that. It’s not common knowledge” during an interview with Joshua Rubin on ‘Wide Awake Podcast’.
“And yeah, Michelle Obama is a man, obviously. They have pictures of her in tracksuits with her 9-inch schlong hanging down. It’s leg” Errol added.
France first couple, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron are also suing wildly-popular US conservative influencer, Candace Owens for her consistent claim the French First Lady was born a biological male, a claim Emmanuel and Brigitte have rubbished.
As far-fetched as the two cited cases, it would be lazy assumption to think the Jonathan don’t-say gay audacity had scrubbed the God-condemned sexual impurity (which the West would like to call either sexual culture, orientation or civilization) off our clime. A while ago, a gay party held in Lagos, albeit discreetly, though the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) ended up reporting it in what would be a glowing tribute to “the resilience” of the outlaws. The attendees didn’t drop from the skies, though several were presumed to have participated, travelling down from their foreign bases. In the accompanying photos from the event, attendees were seen mostly in ugly-looking masks. When Nigerian Tribune’s Lagos crime editor Lekan Olabulo, approached then police boss for comments on actions being taken or if any would be considered, the man, still in the force but elsewhere now, simply dismissed the enquiry as distracting in the face of other more compelling policing demands. To him, the anti-gay law could be stuffed in Olifanti River.
But threatening those not willing to be part of the “rainbow” family in workplace, should be a crime. Denying them their dues in service, should also be a crime. Granted, sexual perverts are hardly environment-restricting. They are in every closet (the ones who aren’t coming out), even in the vestry. But operating in the justice sector almost unfettered even if in closet is an affront to morality. Recruiting through inducement and harassment is a worrying signal that the issue is likely worse than assumed. Even in the West where the abnormal sexual behaviours are being normalised with the instrumentality of the State, harassment and threats aren’t part of the deal. Just like Michelle Obama’s misdirected perception of “(all) love is love”, to belong to the sister-loving-sister caucus, must be a matter of choice and not coercion. The Sodom community in the judicial division and others yet mentioned, should never be allowed to become a hindrance to career growth for those who do not want to risk divine retribution by joining, regardless of the status and organizational height of its main promoters. The child of God resisting them already knows there would be a blowback once she perches as canary after bowing out. I foresee another blockbusting memoir.
I’m redacting the division’s identity for her sake.
Lesbian lust may be dominating everywhere in America. Naija no be US. This country belongs to God, not dogs.
End.
