The National Coordinator of the Youth Alliance for Tinubu (YAT), Bello Bala Shagari, has announced his resignation from the organisation, marking the end of his leadership tenure which began in 2022 ahead of the general elections.
In his resignation statement dated 28th October 2025, Shagari noted that under his coordination, the group mobilized youth nationwide in support of the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. He described the experience as one that provided him with “valuable lessons instrumental to his political growth and development.”
While affirming that he remains an active member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Shagari stated that he is stepping down in order to focus on a new assignment as the Vice Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization (NAMYO) – Africa Region. He stressed that the new role requires a non-partisan approach.
“I must now focus on my new assignment, clear of partisanship,” he said, expressing gratitude to young supporters and acknowledging former Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, for the opportunity to serve.
The Youth Alliance for Tinubu (YAT) played a significant grassroots role in mobilizing young voters during the last election, with Shagari as the face of its youth-centered campaign operations nationwide.
With this exit, attention will now shift to the future leadership direction of YAT and how the organization positions itself within the evolving political climate under President Tinubu’s administration.
