Mature Minds Premier Community Media (MAMIPCO), a leading civic engagement and social discourse platform, marked its 5th Anniversary in grand style at Hassanat Event Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
The celebration featured three major phases: an award presentation, a symposium, and an anniversary dinner, attracting dignitaries, thought leaders, and members from across Nigeria and beyond.
The event, chaired by Hon. Adeeko Oluwasanmi, carried the theme “The Roles of Media in Amplifying Civic Voices for Community Transformation.”
In his welcome address, the Convener, Hon. Ehinafe Odunayo, expressed profound gratitude to God and attendees, noting that Mature Minds was founded in 2020 as “a divine mandate to create a credible platform where governance and the governed meet on the altar of truth, accountability, and constructive dialogue.”
He emphasized Mature Minds’ uniqueness, rooted in integrity, respect, and constructive engagement, which has helped it stand out from propaganda-driven platforms.
Key achievements highlighted include:
– Registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
– Establishment of an operational office in Ado-Ekiti
– Launch of an online radio station broadcasting educative and impactful programs
– Outreach to the needy as part of humanitarian values
– Formation of the Premier Club, Nigeria, to foster unity and networking
– Creation of a cooperative society to empower members economically
The symposium featured a keynote address delivered by Amb. S. Yasir Abiola—S.A., Director of Studies, Ibn Mas’ud Comprehensive Islamic Center, Abuja.
Speaking on the event theme, he underscored the media’s critical roles in societal transformation—creating awareness, amplifying marginalized voices, setting the agenda, mobilizing civic action, and holding power accountable. Using Malala Yousafzai’s global advocacy story, he demonstrated how amplified voices can change the world.
He challenged Nigerian media to uphold independence, financial stability, and integrity, stating, “Say what you know. No addition. No subtraction.”
The award presentation honored notable personalities whose contributions have significantly impacted governance, civic engagement, and community development, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to recognizing excellence.
The day concluded with a gala dinner, where participants networked, celebrated achievements, and shared ideas for sustaining the vision of a credible media-driven society.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Day, Hon. Adeeko Oluwasanmi, praised Mature Minds for promoting peace and civic responsibility, especially during election periods, describing its work as “a unifying force in Ekiti State and beyond.”
The anniversary reaffirmed Mature Minds Premier Community Media’s mission to remain a voice of truth, bridge the gap between government and the governed, and serve as a catalyst for civic transformation in Nigeria.
