Peopled Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship election in the Ekiti 2026 Governorship Election, Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi, has expressed shock and deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in a London hospital last Saturday.
The PDP leader who stated this while reacting to the news of the death of Buhari in Ado Ekiti on Sunday said the death of former president was shocking and devastating.
Paying tributes to the late president, Otunba Obafemi described him as an exemplary leader committed to Nigeria’s progress and also known for his simplicity, anti-corruption stance, firmness with humility, adding that his calm approach to government is unrivaled.
The PDP chieftain explained that Buhari has contributed immensely to the growth of Nigeria as a military head of state and as a civilian president.
Otunba Obafemi prays to God to overlook his shortcomings and grant him mercy and forgiveness.
The governorship aspirant extended heartfelt condolences to Buhari’s family, the government and people of Nigeria, and particularly the people of Katsina State, praying Allah to grant them patience and comfort at this difficult time.
Former President Buhari died today (Sunday) afternoon at a clinic in London, United Kingdom, where he had been receiving medical attention.
His death was confirmed in a statement issued by his former spokesman, Garba Shehu, on behalf of the family.
