A former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has announced that he would not attend any meetings of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) until the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is expelled from the party.

Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, Lamido said the PDP has condoned so many infractions and anti-party activities by its members.

According to him, condoning such misconduct by party members and leaders sets a bad precedent.

The former governor stated that while he remains a member of the party, he would stay away from key activities of the PDP.

He also condemned the anti-party activities by some members of the PDP Board of Trustees like the former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.

His words, “Look at the Board of Trustees (BOT). People like Ortom, who declared support for Obi in 2023, are still members.

“That’s why I’ve said I will not attend any PDP meeting unless Wike is expelled and people like Ortom are removed from the BOT,” Lamido said.

Decrying the deterioration and respect for the party’s constitution, Lamido said in the past, members and leaders of the PDP were strictly guided by the authority of the party.

He also said that the reverse is the case these days with members openly working against the party with repercussions or sanctions.

“I remain a PDP member, but I will not participate in party functions or answer calls to meetings while these individuals remain in leadership,” he added.

Anyanwu is the Valid National Secretary – INEC tells PDP NEC

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has maintained that it recognizes Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

It was learned that the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum, Bala Mohammed, set up a committee comprising Governors Agbu Kefas, Peter Mba,h and Dauda Lawal to interface with the electoral body on resolving the crisis rocking the party over the National Secretaryship Position.

Relying on the Judgement of the Supreme Court earlier this year, the Commission clearly stated that Anyanwu was the valid National Secretary of the Party and was whom they recognized.

“That the commission still recognized Sen. Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Party in consonance with the Supreme Court judgment.”

“That there’s no vacancy to be replaced until Anyanwu is removeth the Constitution of the Party,”

That notice of 21 days should be given to the commission for any of such meeting to remove and or replace an official of the Party.”

“That the NEC meeting should be in compliance with the provision of the Party’s Constitution and requirements in the Electoral Act in the case of removal/appointment of an Official of the Party.”
