Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has told the people of Rivers State not be dismayed rather they would come out of the ongoing political crisis stronger.
However, he warned against forces scheming to plunge the state into violence and vowed to resist any attempt to rob the people of their livelihood.
Speaking passionately at his private residence in Port Harcourt during an Eid-el-Fitr visit from Muslim leaders representing 20 Islamic groups, Fubara reassured his supporters that justice would prevail.
He emphasised that the battle ahead is one of truth and righteousness, urging his followers to remain steadfast in the face of adversity.
“This is a season of love, sharing, and sacrifice,” he declared. “You have come to share in our pain, and I know that everything happening now is leading us toward a greater purpose. No matter what, we will emerge stronger.”
According to the Punch, Fubara acknowledged the weight of the political turmoil but hinted that supernatural forces might be shaping events beyond human understanding.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice and egalitarianism, stressing that he would rather endure hardship than compromise on his principles.
Using a powerful analogy, he urged patience, drawing from religious history: “If God could wait for even the snail to enter Noah’s Ark, then patience remains a virtue in our struggle.”
He also issued a stern warning against those plotting chaos in Rivers State, vowing that his government would not allow political saboteurs to disrupt the peace.
“Their aim is to create instability and cripple livelihoods, but we will not let that happen,” he declared. “We will continue to respect constituted authority and ensure Rivers State remains a model of peace and governance in Nigeria.”
Muslim leader, Nasir Uhor, speaking on behalf of the delegation, pledged unwavering support for Fubara, praising his inclusive leadership. He urged the governor to remain resolute, citing the Islamic teaching that patience brings divine reward.
Uhor also made a bold call for President Bola Tinubu to review the emergency rule in Rivers and fully restore Fubara’s authority, emphasizing that despite the crisis, the governor has continued to lead effectively.
