Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship aspirant in the Ekiti 2026 Governorship Election, Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi (OPO ) has extended warm birthday wishes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the occasion of his 73rd birthday, while also calling the need for genuine and transformative leadership to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
In a statement personally signed by Obafemi and made available to the press on Friday, he commended President Tinubu’s long history of benevolence and service to Nigeria but also reminded him of the sacred trust of leadership and the weighty responsibilities attached to his office.
Obafemi described Tinubu as a political strategist unparalleled in Nigeria’s political history, saying, “Tinubu has throughout his political career espoused a comprehensive political and economic platform. Tinubu’s ideal of progressivism includes the values of egalitarianism, social justice, liberty, and the recognition of fundamental rights.
” President Tinubu is a positive advocate for the public welfare, and his coming to politics has been to grab power and effectively deploy it to establish an egalitarian society where equality, justice, social harmony, and economic prosperity reign supreme.
“This ideal is not so far removed from his activism of democracy during the military dictatorship in Nigeria and how he and some other NADECO leaders were forced to go into exile by the Abacha military junta.
“I congratulate President Bola Tinubu on his 73rd birthday. I have immense respect for President Tinubu’s long history of benevolence and service to our dear Nigeria,”
Describing Tinubu as a president, not by accident, Obafemi urged him to use the opportunity offered to him by God to effectively deploy the potential to transform the country into the real nation Nigerians aspire for, stressing that the collective aspiration for a better nation transcends political divides.
Obafemi, who is an accomplished business and aviation guru, reminded the president that his current position offers an unprecedented opportunity to transform our shared national narrative from potential to tangible progress.
He continued, “Leadership is a sacred trust, and at this critical juncture in our national journey, the responsibilities weighing on your shoulders are immense.
“As you mark this birthday, my earnest prayer is that the Almighty God grants you exceptional wisdom, strength, good health, and a profound clarity of purpose.
” May you be empowered to implement bold, transformative, and humane policies that address the fundamental challenges facing our people in the form of youth unemployment, infrastructure deficit, economic instability, and the urgent need for national unity.”
He said, “Our collective aspiration for a better Nigeria transcends political divides as we yearn for a nation where the potential is not just recognized but actively cultivated.
“I wish the President good health and success in governance.
“May this birthday inspire a renewed commitment to unpretentious, genuine governance.”
