Edo State House of Assembly has summoned the lawmaker representing Egor Constituency, Natasha Osawaru, to appear before the Standing Committee on Ethics and Privileges within one week over an allegedly offensive video.
Speaker of the House, Chief Blessing Agbebaku, announced the summon during Tuesday’s plenary session in Benin.
The summon was sequel to a viral video linked to her that allegedly brought embarrassment to the 8th Assembly.
Agbebaku said that the video raised concerns about the lawmaker’s conduct and decorum.
He, therefore, directed the committee to investigate the matter and submit its report to the House within two weeks.
He said that the step was part of the Assembly’s efforts to maintain the integrity and dignity of its members.
Osawaru is expected to appear before the committee to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the viral video.
“The Assembly’s action demonstrates its commitment to holding its members accountable for their actions and ensuring that they maintain the highest standards of conduct and decorum.
“The outcome of the investigation is expected to determine the next course of action,” Agbebaku said.
Osawaru is currently married to music legend, 2Baba (Innocent Idibia).
The Edo lawmaker has also been involved in some controversies, including being ordered out of the Assembly chamber at a time for improper dressing and wearing dark sunglasses.
She had also faced public scrutiny for her relationship with 2Baba.
